Ten years after clean energy was integrated into the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the decarbonisation of the global energy sector stands at a crossroads. While renewable energy deployment is accelerating worldwide, geopolitical shifts, resource constraints, and industrial challenges are reshaping the pathway toward sustainable, secure, and affordable energy sources.
In this context, the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) is hosting the first day of Paris Energy Week, which includes the presentation of the 2025 World Energy Outlook, the International Energy Agency’s flagship report.
The European Chair for Sustainable Development and Climate Transition is pleased to highlight that Tim Gould, Chief Energy Economist at the International Energy Agency and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Chair, will present this year’s Outlook, and Marc Ringel, Chairholder of the European Chair for Sustainable Development and Climate Transition, will also participate in the panel discussion.
This year’s edition of the World Energy Outlook comes amid major shifts in global energy policies and markets, and acute geopolitical strains. Governments are reaching different conclusions about the best ways to tackle concerns about energy security, affordability and sustainability. An important theme in the 2025 Outlook is security of supply of critical minerals.
The flagship report of International Energy Agency highlights how governments, industries, and societies can navigate the complex interplay of energy security, economic development, and environmental responsibility in the decade ahead.
