European Green Deal: Green Deal: Objectives, implementation, challenges

By Maria Kipp, Tereza Fabulova, Juahna Da Mota

The European Green Deal (EGD) is an ambitious policy initiative set by the European Commission, approved in 2020 and aiming for climate neutrality in Europe by 2050. The EGD requires an entire transformation in all European economies and societies while not leaving anyone behind. This ambitious project presents a lot of financial, social and political challenges that the EU will need to face to create a more sustainable future in Europe and worldwide. The success of the EGD depends on the commitment of the member states and the success of the implementation period on the EU level as well as the national level.
