Call for Applications – Student Participation in Roundtable Discussions on Transitional Justice in Syria
 

The MENA Program at Sciences Po, in partnership with the Paris Bar Association and the Arab Center

As part of the conference "Perspectives on Transitional Justice in Syria" to be held at the Paris Bar Association on October 30, 2025, two preparatory roundtables will take place at Sciences Po, from 9am to 3pm. These sessions will bring together civil society actors, legal experts, and academics, focusing on the challenges and prospects of transitional justice in post-Assad Syria.
We are inviting a small group of Master’s students at Sciences Po to participate in these closed-door discussions. Selected students will have the opportunity to actively contribute to
the reflections on key topics related to justice, accountability, and inclusive governance in Syria.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Strong academic knowledge of the Middle East region, with a particular focus on Syria;
- A clear interest in justice and human rights issues in the region;
- French and Arabic language skills are highly recommended.
 

If selected, students will have to take part in two roundtables: the first one on the levels and jurisdiction of transitional justice in Syria (national, European, international), the second one transitional justice as a step towards inclusive governance in Syria.

These roundtables will take place at Sciences Po from 9am to 3pm on October 30. The public event will take place at the Paris Bar Association between 4 and 7:30pm.

To apply, please submit:
- A 1-page motivation letter outlining your academic background, interest in the topic, and what you would bring to the discussion;
- A CV (in English or French).
