Carla Marand

Carla Marand has been a PhD student in art history at the Centre de l'Histoire de Sciences Po since 2020. Her dissertation examines the visual and performing arts to understand the role played by artificial intelligence in structuring contemporary emotional life. This work has received an Arts & Societies grant from the Fondation de France (2020-2021).

She has also been a research officer for the ANR CulturIA project, which has conducted a historical, bibliosemantic, and ethnographic study of the culture of artificial intelligence. In this context, she has contributed to the preparation of two exhibitions: Mirabil-IA at the Centre des Arts in Enghien-les-Bains and Le Monde selon l'IA at the Jeu de Paume. Finally, with Simon Bréan and under the direction of Alexandre Gefen, she contributed to the edition of a collective work picturing the cultural and technical history of artificial intelligence, to be published in 2026 by CNRS Éditions.
