Bastien Cabot

Bastien Cabot is a historian, agrégé in History, with a PhD from the EHESS (École des hautes études en sciences sociales, Paris). His work focuses on the social history of Western industrial societies. His early research centred on the relationship between the labour movement and immigration. Since completing his PhD, Bastien Cabot has taken a particular interest in the relationship between the labour movement and socialist organisations, and their attitudes towards industrial modernity and its negative consequences. His thesis, defended in 2022, therefore examined the living conditions of miners in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Bastien Cabot now expands his research both temporally and geographically, by undertaking a comparative and international study of workers’ self-reflection from the 1880s to the 1980s.
