"I'm a Colombian investigative journalist and co-founder of the Latin American Center for Investigative Journalism (CLIP), where we foster collaborative, cross-border investigations in our region focusing on the environment, disinformation, corruption and human rights abuses. Before that I was a reporter focusing on environmental and peace-related issues and previously a political reporter at La Silla Vacia, Colombia's first online independent media.

Doing the dual degree at Sciences Po helped me find my path in journalism. By allowing me to do paid internships at a TV channel and a news agency, I was able to grasp what type of journalism I really wanted to do (and which one not so much). More importantly, it brought me closer to identifying the subject matters that, 16 years later, I still write on and care most about. Attending classes on war and peace, transitional justice, international human rights law, drug policy or public health helped me gain a better insight on subject matters that are major challenges for Colombia and Latin America - and paved the way for me to realize how I could contribute to solving them.

Two decades later, I'm still writing about most of them. For years, I reported on drug policy, rural development and the way victims of war rebuild their lives, as part of coverage on our historic peace agreement with FARC

I ended up writing two books about the peace negotiations and one about drug policy. I still follow transitional justice in my country for a specialized journalism project on international justice called JusticeInfo. And as an investigative reporter at CLIP, many of the issues we report on are informed by what I learnt whilst at Rue du Bac.

My advice to any aspiring journalist is simple: give yourself the opportunity to discover what are the issues you care deeply about and learn as much as you can about them. This will help you find your voice and your contribution to society."
