Kevin Mellet, elected head of the Department of Sociology at Sciences Po, has taken office on September 1st, 2025.

Based on the principles of collegiality and elective responsibility, the Department of Sociology is the primary forum for discussing and decision-making on the teaching of sociology at Sciences Po: course syllabi, course allocation, recruitment of teaching assistants, and more broadly, the pedagogical direction of the discipline. The department head coordinates its activities and is the main representative of the discipline to the Sciences Po administration.

In carrying out his or her duties, the Head of Department draws on the support of Sciences Po's five sociology research centres: the Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics (CEE), the Centre for International Research (CERI), the Centre for Research on Social Inequalities (CRIS), the CSO, and the médialab.
