CRIS is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for the DISEQUAL project

CRIS at Sciences Po is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the ERC-funded project DISEQUAL, led by Prof. Mirna Safi, on discrimination, inequality and their reinforcing cycle across countries, regions and workplaces.

Position overview

The postdoc will be a core member of the DISEQUAL team, which examines how unequal treatment and unequal outcomes interact over time in areas such as hiring and rental housing, with a particular focus on gender and ethnoracial inequalities.

The project combines experimental and observational data as well as insights from sociology, economics, political science and social psychology to better understand and potentially disrupt the “discrimination–inequality cycle.”

Key missions

  • Coordinate the scientific and administrative launch and development of the DISEQUAL project.
  • Lead and organize data collection to build a comparative cross-national dataset on discrimination and inequality, including prospecting in pre-selected countries.
  • Prepare complex datasets, conduct advanced quantitative analyses and co-author articles for leading international journals.
  • Present findings at conferences, workshops and stakeholder events, and contribute to public outreach about the project’s results.
  • Mentor junior team members and help with reporting and overall project development.

Profile sought

  • PhD (or equivalent) in the social sciences (e.g. sociology, demography, economics, political science), obtained within the last three years or to be completed before the end of 2026.
  • Strong background or keen interest in social inequality and discrimination research, with solid quantitative methods skills and experience in data collection and analysis.
  • High level of autonomy and sense of responsibility, with motivation to develop original research within the architecture of DISEQUAL.
  • Fluency in English and an appetite for interdisciplinary, international collaboration.
