Éric Thiers

A graduate of Sciences Po (public service section), Éric Thiers also holds a master's degree in public law from Paris II Panthéon-Assas and a DEA (post-graduate diploma) in history and civilisations from the EHESS. A State Councillor, he previously held several positions within the National Assembly as a service administrator.

In particular, he was responsible for the secretariat of the Committee on Constitutional Laws, Legislation and Administration of the Republic. He was the rapporteur of the committee for reflection and proposals on the modernisation and rebalancing of institutions ("Balladur Committee") in 2007. He is currently Secretary General of the Haut-Commissariat au Plan. He has taught at Sciences Po, ENSAE, ENA and the University of Paris II.

Eric Thiers is a member of the editorial board of : Pouvoirs ; Commentaire ; Mil Neuf Cent : revue d'histoire intellectuelle ; La revue de l'Amitié Charles Péguy. He is the author of about a hundred publications and has co-edited a work on the parliamentary opposition, a treatise on parliamentary studies and a book on the political thought of Charles Péguy.
