Arnaud Miranda Awarded the 2026 Revue des Deux Mondes Prize

Arnaud Miranda

CEVIPOF warmly congratulates Arnaud Miranda, PhD in Political Theory and Associate Doctor at CEVIPOF–Sciences Po, on being awarded the 2026 Revue des Deux Mondes Prize for his book Les Lumières sombres. Comprendre la pensée néoréactionnaire (Dark Enlightenment: Understanding Neoreactionary Thought), published by Gallimard.

Established in 2008, the Revue des Deux Mondes Prize is awarded annually to an essay written in French, recognizing both its literary excellence and its contribution to contemporary intellectual debate.

Presenting the award, Aurélie Julia, Director of Revue des Deux Mondes and Chair of the Jury, praised Les Lumières sombres as “a pioneering work that enables readers to grasp the new reactionary ideologies emerging in the digital age.” Arnaud Miranda succeeds Richard Malka, recipient of the 2025 prize for Après Dieu (After God).

The book has also received significant critical recognition. It was shortlisted for both the 2026 France Télévisions Prize and the 2026 Babelio Prize, and was selected for the first round of the 2026 Prix des Écrivains du Sud.

Mapping the Intellectual Landscape of Neoreaction

Published in January 2026, Les Lumières sombres offers the first comprehensive introduction to contemporary neoreactionary thought. Drawing on extensive research, Arnaud Miranda examines the thinkers, concepts, and networks that constitute this ideological movement, while tracing the intellectual genealogy of a digital counterculture whose influence now extends to the highest levels of American political power.

The book sheds new light on the convergence between segments of the technology sector and Trumpism, providing readers with essential tools for understanding one of the most influential and least studied ideological currents of our time.

As Arnaud Miranda explains:

“There was no serious introductory work on neoreactionary thought, despite the fact that it helps explain the striking convergence between certain technology leaders and Trumpism. I therefore wanted to write a clear and accessible book that would provide readers with the key analytical tools needed to understand this new ideology. Although the project emerged from academic research, I wrote an entirely new manuscript with the ambition of reaching a broad audience.”

Growing International Recognition

The impact of Les Lumières sombres is increasingly international. Translation rights have been acquired in fifteen languages, underscoring the global resonance of the questions addressed in the book.

The work has already been published in Italian (Rizzoli) and Norwegian (Forlaget). Dutch, Spanish, and Catalan editions are scheduled for publication later this year, while translations are currently underway in English (Polity), Japanese (Hakusuisha), Korean (Yeomoonchaek), Chinese (Shanghai People's Publishing House), German (C. H. Beck), Portuguese (Edições 70), Greek (Polis), Romanian (Humanitas), Turkish (İş Kültür), and Brazilian Portuguese.

CEVIPOF is delighted to see this work receive such distinguished recognition and extends its warmest congratulations to Arnaud Miranda.
