Biography

Sarah L. de Lange is Professor of Dutch Politics at the Institute of Political Science at Leiden University. Previously, she was Professor of Political Pluralism at the University of Amsterdam. 

Her research agenda centers on new social and political divisions, the associated rise of the far right, and the impact of these parties on party systems, policymaking, and the functioning of democracy. In 2024 she published the Oxford Handbook of Dutch Politics, which she co-edited with Carolien van Ham, Paul 't Hart, and Tom Louwerse.

She frequently contributes to international and national media productions that focus on, amongst others, Dutch politics, the rise of the far right, and the state of liberal democracy in Western Europe.
