Biography
Manlio Cinalli is a professor in the Department of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Milan and an associate research director at CEVIPOF, Sciences Po Paris. He has previously held teaching and research positions at several leading universities and institutes in Europe and the United States, including Columbia University, the University of Oxford, the EUI, and the University of Geneva.
His latest book, co-authored with David Jacobson, Citizenship: The Third Revolution, was published by Oxford University Press. It is the inaugural monograph of the new Oxford Studies on Migration and Citizenship series.
Professor Cinalli has published extensively on citizenship, political integration, and the global “seams” that cross national, ethnic, religious, and generational divides. He has obtained research funding totaling around 3 million euros, supporting a wide range of large-scale projects. He is also the author of numerous reports commissioned by major national and international funding agencies.
His research combines quantitative and qualitative methods and stands out for its eclectic and multidisciplinary approach, integrating the study of contentious politics, relational fields, content analysis, surveys, and public policy analysis.
