Since October 2024, Dr. Biardeau has served as the Inter-Ministerial Delegate for Climate and Sustainable Development within the Government of Mā’ohi Nui (French Polynesia), led by President Moetai Brotherson. In this capacity, he coordinates the implementation of the 2030 Climate Plan (PCPF) and contributes to the preparation of major international summits (UNOC, COP).

Biography
Originating from Paea (Tahiti), Léopold Temoana Biardeau holds a Ph.D. in Environmental and Resource Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Public Policy from the Goldman School of Public Policy. He is also an alumnus of Sciences Po, where he completed both his Master's and undergraduate studies.
His research lies at the intersection of environmental economics and public policy analysis, with a particular focus on climate adaptation and mitigation strategies in island territories. His recent work, published in journals such as Nature Sustainability, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), and Tourism Management, analyzes the vulnerability of global economic flows to natural disasters, as well as the tensions between competition policy and sustainability imperatives in island economies.
