Contemporary security and defence issues, with a particular focus on dynamics involving nuclear weapons, are examined under this theme. Deterrence strategies, non-proliferation policies, and the resulting international tensions and negotiations are analysed. Research also looks at changes in security and surveillance practices, particularly in relation to digital technology. Theoretical and empirical approaches, incorporating case studies, strategic analyses and field surveys are brought together in this research framework.
