Dossier - October 2023

On 7 October, Hamas launched attacks against Israel on the border with the Gaza Strip in an operation called Al-Aqsa Flood. These are the deadliest attacks since the creation of the State of Israel in 1948 (more than 1,300 people have lost their lives, mostly civilians, and more than 200 others have been taken hostage by Hamas). An ‘extraordinary moment,’ as Alain Dieckhoff writes.

CERI is now offering a dossier coordinated by Alain Dieckhoff on the attacks of 7 October and their consequences for the world order and the international system. We will discuss how this new Israeli-Palestinian war is being perceived in Israel, by the Palestinians, in the Gulf countries, by China and other regions of the world, and how it is changing international relations. We present the analyses of several CERI researchers on these various issues.
