Biography
Joel Ansah is a doctoral student in Political Science whose doctoral research focuses on exploring the experiences of climate change among residents of poor neighbourhoods in coastal cities along the Gulf of Guinea, and the resultant contestations and mobilizations among the residents. Prior to his doctoral studies, Joel earned a master’s degree in Governing the Large Metropolis from the Urban School, where he joined the research track and wrote his thesis on the governance of informal settlements in cities of the Global South. His research interests focus on the nexus of urban informality, politics, social movements, and policy change, in light of the changing climatic conditions.
