Biography
Samy Cohen holds a Ph.D. in political science from Sciences Po. He taught in the Research Master of International Relations at the University of Paris 1, in the Research Master of International Relations atSciences Po and in Sciences Po's doctoral school. He is author and / or editor of more than twelve books and collaborative volumes. In addition to his work on foreign policy and defense and to his interest in interviewing elites methodology, his research focused on the role of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of the French militaries, on the relations between States and non-State actors, on democracies at the war against terrorism, on Tsahal's war against terrorism and on the Israeli Peace movement. He currently works on the Israeli democracy and the morality of war.
He was member of the Scientific Council of Sciences Po (2007-2011), of the editorial board of the review Inflexions, and of the Scientific Council of the French Research Center of Jerusalem (2014-2017). Since 2017 he is member of the Scientific board of the review Les Champs de Mars, Revue d'études sur la guerre et la paix.
He founded the French Association for Israel Studies (AFEIL) in March 2019 and chaired it until the end of 2024.
