Abstract: Since the beginning of the new century, the far right has entered a new phase, which is characterized by increased heterogeneity, mainstreaming, and normalization. Although the far right itself has not changed that much, its relationship to the political mainstream has. In this lecture, I will outline the key characteristics of the fourth wave of the far right and highlight some of the consequences for the study of European party politics.
