Photo de François ForetFrançois Foret is Professor of Political Science at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and Jean Monnet chair. In the past, he held teaching and research positions in France and the UK and was visiting professor and researcher in various institutions (among others Cambridge, Georgetown, Wilson Centre, Waseda, Fudan). He is currently working on two main projects. “Importing religion, exporting secularism? Religion in EU external policy” (SeculEUR) analyzes the influence of religion and secularism in European international affairs in comparison with the US and Japan. "Governing values, governing through values, governed by values? The European Union as a risk polity" (ValEUR) studies the regulation of normative matters in internal and external EU politics.

European integration; identity and memory; symbolic legitimization of political orders; interaction between religion and politics; comparative politics
