Discover the city

Located in Normandy, just two hours by train from Paris, Le Havre is France's biggest port. It is historically linked to Asia as the entry point for Asian products arriving in France.

It's easy to find a place to stay in one of Le Havre's many student residences or in a private flat.

Don't forget to prepare your search carefully before you start looking. Depending on your situation, you may also be eligible for a housing benefit .

Settling in

The Sciences Po Welcome association (SPW!) offers to put you in contact with Le Havre families to help you stave off any homesickness.

The families are all enthusiastic volunteers who will help you discover the city, the region and the French art de vivre.

Transport

Le Havre has a vast public transport network, including bus, tram, train (TER) and a funicular railway (nicknamed Funi) that connects the upper and lower parts of the city: plan your route.

It's also possible to hire a bike (fr.) thanks to a long-term bike loan scheme.

Culture & Leisure

The city of Le Havre has a vibrant cultural and sports scene (fr.) for its 11,000 students to enjoy. Le Volcan national theatre (fr.) , the modern art museum (MuMa) , the natural history museum (fr.) , the Oscar Niemeyer library (fr.) , concert venue Le Tétris , the Océane stadium and the seaside offer boundless opportunities for entertainment and cultural discovery.
