THORNIKÉ GORDADZÉ. Researcher in France, minister in Georgia


The 35-year-old sociologist, a Sciences Po graduate, has been sworn in as a minister in Georgia, where he will strive to anchor his country of origin in Europe.


We meet at the Café de Flore in Paris’s famous Saint-Germain-des-Prés quarter. Thorniké Gordadzé knows the area well. Last year, this French researcher, who specialises in the political sociology of the Caucusus, still worked at CERI, Sciences Po’s centre for international studies, which is located there. And it was in this great establishment in nearby rue Saint-Guillaume that he defended hisdoctoral thesis in 2006 on “the socio-historic formation of the Georgian nation.”
