Why should you read Econ News?Econ News is a monthly publication that seeks to inform first and foremost Sciences Po faculty members, researchers and students. But it also reaches out to a wider community - Sciences Po's Department of Economics' partners, esteemed visiting faculty and friends. Alongside the Department's website it is a complementary means of keeping abreast of the Department's rich and diversified scientific activities - visiting faculty, exceptional conferences, publications, awards, appointments, calls for papers and research, ... Econ News' little sister - Econ News (Business & Finance) - is a weekly publication that seeks to inform the Department of Economics' graduate students enrolled in our Master programmes, the members of faculty who teach them, and our partners who hire them. She is currently a Research Fellow at IZA, Research Affiliate at CEPR, Research Associate at the Centre for Economic Performance (LSE), and Research Fellow at CESifo (Munich). Since 2015, Professor Azmat is also Specialist Advisor to the British House of Commons, « Women and Equalities Committee », for their inquiry on the Gender Pay Gap. PRIMARY RESEARCH FIELDS - Labour Economics Professor Azmat acquired her PhD from the London School of Economics in 2006. Prior to Queen Mary University, she taught at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2006-2013). She has also held a number of visiting professorships - at Stanford University, at the Institute of Fiscal Studies (London) and at the LSE (Centre for Economic Performance, Managerial Economics and Strategy Group). Professor Azmat is visiting the Department for the entire semester. PRIMARY RESEARCH FIELDS - Asset pricing Professor Andries acquired her PhD from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 2012. Prior to her doctoral studies - and following her engineering degree from the École des Mines - Professor Andries worked for Morgan Stanley (Commodities Group) as an Associate in Trading and Quantitative Research as well as for Citadel as a consultant for the development of an automatic trading platform on the energy markets. Marianne ANDRIES will be visting the Department for her sabbatical year. Learn more about Marianne ANDRIES and her research (link) Office Location: Department of Economics, 28 rue des Saints Pères - Office F 405 bis Julia CAGÉ has been appointed as Research Affiliate to the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR)Julia CAGÉ, Assistant Professor at Sciences Po's Department of Economics, was appointed as Research Affiliate for the CEPR's Public Economics and Industrial Organisation Programmes this past summer. The Public Economics (PE) programme covers several areas - taxation, government expenditures, social policy, welfare state, political economy, development, fiscal and welfare implications of european integration. The Industrial Organisation programme covers notably: network industries, political economy of regulation and competition policy, and institutional design, dynamics of industry, corporate governance, competition policy, mergers and acquisitions, ...
