The Tech & Global Affairs Innovation Hub of the Paris School of International Affairs at SciencesPo is proud to welcome Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), for a special event on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the ITU.

In this discussion with the Center for International Studies (CERI) Director Stéphanie Balme and the Hub's Senior Adviser Constance de Leusse, Doreen Bogdan-Martin will look back on the history of the ITU and present the role of oldest UN agency in addressing the most pressing and complex digital challenges of our era—from the critical intersections between ICT and education to the role of digital technologies in addressing climate and environmental challenges. The Secretary General will also share views with students and young leaders in digital governance, such as Juliette Marceaux, SciencesPo alumna, Head of the French Delegation to the G20 Youth Summit (Y20) in South Africa, and Claudia Leopardi SciencesPo Master student.

The 160th anniversary is an opportunity to look at the history and missions that led the ITU to its position at the forefront of global telecommunications and digital governance.
This conversation will also be a space to reflect on the organization's evolving mission in a world where the United Nations is evolving to meet new challenges and embracing public-private partnerships to address global issues.

Secretary-General Bogdan-Martin will share insights from the ITU's vision for inclusive and sustainable digital development, as well as the role of international cooperation in shaping an equitable digital future.

This event is part of SciencesPo’s ongoing efforts to foster dialogue at the intersection of technology, global affairs, and public policy.

We look forward to welcoming you for this important conversation on May 14, 2025, 17h00 in SciencesPo Paris, 13 rue de l'Université, room Erignac.
