Emmanuel Guérin Appointed Vice-Dean of the Paris Climate School
Emmanuel Guérin has been appointed Vice-Dean of the Paris Climate School by Sciences Po President Luis Vassy. He took up his post on 19 January 2026, tasked with continuing to structure and develop this new graduate school in all aspects.
In this capacity, he will work alongside Laurence Tubiana, Dean of the Climate School, who will take up her full duties next year, and Ariane Joab-Cornu, Executive Director of the Paris Climate School, who will continue to work part-time in addition to her responsibilities as advisor to the President.

« I am very honoured to have been appointed Vice-Dean of the Climate School and would like to thank Luis Vassy and Laurence Tubiana for their trust. Launching the Climate School at Sciences Po comes at a pivotal moment in history. While the urgency to act is ever greater, technical solutions exist, and scepticism is growing. More than ever, the contribution of the humanities and social sciences is essential to finding the means for ecological, economic, and social transformation. »
Emmanuel Guérin
Vice-Dean of the Paris Climate School
Emmanuel Guérin is an internationally recognised authority on climate geopolitics: he founded the International Climate Politics Hub and, as special advisor to Laurence Tubiana during COP21, played a decisive role in the negotiations that led to the Paris Agreement.
From 2016 onwards, he held positions at the European Climate Foundation, notably as Executive Director for International Affairs; he was also a Fellow for three years at the Instituto Clima e Sociedade (Brazil), supporting the preparation of COP30.
He also brings solid academic experience: leading the energy and climate programme at IDDRI (a think tank associated with Sciences Po), serving as Associate Director of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (Columbia University), and conducting research as an Associate Research Fellow at the Grantham Research Institute at the London School of Economics. He is also the co-author, with Laurence Tubiana, of the book Le climat est un sport de combat (Climate Change is a Combat Sport).
Join us on 11 February at 2 p.m. for an information session on the Master in Ecological Transition, Risks and Governance at Paris Climate School, with Dean Laurence Tubiana.
