Call for applications 12-month postdoctoral contract TIERED project, Sciences Po - INED

Sciences Po and the French National Institute for Demographic Studies (INED) are inviting applications for a postdoctoral research position (1-year fixed-term contract) as part of the TIERED project1. Current digital and environmental transformations raise many questions of interest to both institutions. As part of this project, Sciences Po and INED are jointly developping research on the exposure of immigrant children to environmental risks in France.
The postdoctoral researcher will join a research project studying the mediating role of environmental risks in the relationship between migration status and health at birth in France, focusing in particular on the role of exposure to multiple risks (e.g., heat and pollution). We propose to use several data sources, including the Elfe birth cohort, matched with fine grained information on air pollution, air temperature and vegetation during pregnancy, as well as other detailed information on the household’s environment.
Timeline
- 15 September 2025: deadline for applications
- End of September 2025: interviews with shortlisted candidates
- November 2025: start of position
Tasks
The successful candidate work on this research project at the interface between INED and Sciences Po. Project results will be presented through presentations and scientific articles. All work will be compiled and presented in a research report. The successful candidate will also assist the INED-Sciences Po research team in defining a more structured initiative, such as further funding applications.
This may involve conducting a state-of-the-art review to identify an original and promising theme, and contributing to establishing a workplan, defining the governance model and identifying financial partners.
10% of the postdoctoral researcher’s time may be devoted to developing and promoting previous research.
