Winter School on Artificial Intelligence and Justice

About this event

From 19 January 2026 09:00 to 23 January 2026 17:00

Organized by

Sciences Po Law School and Sorbonne University

Description

The Winter School on AI & Justice, jointly hosted by Sciences Po Law School and Sorbonne University, offers an immersive exploration of the profound transformations artificial intelligence is bringing to the concepts and practices of justice. Rather than confining its inquiry to the judicial sphere, the programme interrogates justice in its broadest sense—encompassing the social ramifications of AI-infused public policies, the emergence of new regulatory paradigms, and the reconfiguration of legal phenomena in response to technological innovation. Participants will engage with leading scholars and practitioners whose expertise spans AI ethics, legal theory, digital governance, and social policy, fostering a dialogue that critically examines how algorithmic systems are reshaping norms of fairness, accountability, and rights protection in contemporary societies.

Enriching the academic experience, the Winter School features a dynamic legal hackathon, challenging participants to devise innovative solutions to real-world issues at the intersection of law and artificial intelligence. Thanks to a partnership with Clifford Chance, this initiative will lead to an exclusive internship offer for one outstanding student

Selection

Admission to the Winter School on AI & Justice is highly competitive, with only 25 spots available. Applicants are required to submit a curriculum vitae and a one-page letter of motivation, clearly articulating why participation in this Winter School is indispensable to their academic development and to the professional path they intend to pursue. The selection committee will prioritize candidates who demonstrate not only strong intellectual curiosity about the intersections of AI and justice, but also a clear vision of how the programme will contribute to their professional trajectory. All application materials must be submitted by December 5, 2025.

Applications from Sciences Po Law School students should be sent to rebecca.mignotmahdavi@sciencespo.fr, while applications from Sorbonne Université students should be sent to arnaud.latil@sorbonne-universite.fr. Please note that only Master 1 students from Sciences Po Law School can apply.
