Direction scientifiqueSciences Po's Vice President for Research invites you to the FacSem with Jean-Samuel Beuscart, University professor at the médialab.
Jean-Samuel Beuscart is a University Professor of Sociology, accredited to supervise PhD theses. His research focuses on various aspects of the digitalization of markets, consumption, and everyday life.
He has studied the digital devices that populate digital markets and guide consumption practices: consumer reviews, targeted advertising, recommendation algorithms. Part of his work focuses more specifically on the digitization of the music market and music listening. For the past ten years, he has been interested in the link between digital transition and ecological transition, both in terms of digital tools to support the greening of behaviors and the growing challenges of digital sobriety.
A graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure with a degree in economics and social sciences, he was a researcher at Orange Labs and then professor of sociology at Télécom Paris. He is the author of “Promouvoir les œuvres culturelles” (with Kevin Mellet, 2012) and “Sociologie d'internet” (with Eric Dagiral and Sylvain Parasie, 2019).
Julia Cagé, Professor at the Department of Economics, will be the discussant.
