Professor Sanaa Alsarghali Appointed to Palestine’s Interim Constitution Drafting Committee

Sciences Po Law School and the Global Visiting Faculty Program are happy to share that Professor Sanaa Alsarghali, Global Visiting Professor for at Sciences Po and Associate Professor of Constitutional Law at An-Najah National University, has been appointed to the Drafting Committee of the Palestinian Interim Constitution.
Entrusted with shaping the Interim Constitution, this high-level body represents a crucial step in defining the future governance framework for the Palestinians and the transition from authority to statehood. Professor Alsarghali’s appointment marks a recognition of her academic leadership as she was the first woman in Palestine to earn a PhD in Constitutional Law.
Alsarghali first visited Sciences Po Law School in fall 2023 holding an SSHN Fellowship from the French Consulate in Jerusalem, and returned in fall 2024 as an invited professor by Sciences Po Law School, where she became an integral part of our academic community, enriching our focus on Arab world studies through her teaching on constitutions and the Middle East, co-organizing high-level events on constitutional topics related to the region, and mentoring students. She has been awarded the Global Visiting Faculty Professorship for the fall semester of 2025 by Sciences Po. Her dual role-as an invited professor at Sciences Po Law School and a member of the drafting committee-reflects the mission of the Law School to connect global scholarship with pressing constitutional challenges and to host outstanding female professors whose scholarship bridges constitutional theory and practice.
