Zinaida Miller

Guest Speaker: Zinaida Miller, Professor of Law & International Affairs, Northeastern University

What are the ‘times’ of human rights and transitional justice? Important work in the last decade has examined temporality in each field, as well as in domestic and international criminal law. Much of this work either assumes commonality among the paradigms or simply works within a single discipline. In this presentation I will use temporality as a way to understand accountability and responsibility in human rights and transitional justice.

Specifically, I will trace the temporal paradigms of each field, examining the following thematic areas:

  1. Crisis and Catastrophe
  2. Territory and Violence
  3. Carcerality and Punishment
  4. Responsibility and Accountability

Invite-only event.
