Biography

Erik Olsson is a postdoctoral fellow within the FEDMONEY project. He holds a PhD in political science from Boston University and he previously studied political science and economics at Uppsala University. His research interests center on the political, social, and ideological dimensions of economic policies and institutions.

Erik’s doctoral work focused on the construction of capitalist monetary regimes in England and Sweden between the Napoleonic Wars and the Second World War. Through a comparative-historical analysis, his dissertation identified the culture and socio-economic processes that shaped monetary and banking reforms these two countries, resulting in the formation of distinct monetary regimes. His current research within the EDMONEY project explores the political conflicts surrounding central banking and monetary policy in federal and other multilevel polities.
