BIO

Didier Demazière’s work elaborates a sociology of labour, employment, and professional groups that centres on labour markets.

His fields of research are:

  1. Unemployment and job searches, examined at the intersection of lived experiences of the unemployed and public activation policies;
  2. The careers of elected politicians, studied at the intersection of electoral uncertainties and security mechanisms, and viewed through the prism of the material costs and rewards of political engagement;
  3. The careers of professional sportspeople, analysed in the case of football from the role of market intermediaries (sports agents in particular)

He devotes another part of his work to theoretical and methodological reflections on biographical perspectives and interactionist postures/stances.
