Biography

Daniel Benamouzig is a sociologist and Research Director at the CNRS’s Center for the Sociology of Organizations. He holds the Health Chair at Sciences Po and serves as Chair of the
Scientific Council of the École des Hautes Études en Santé Publique. He has served on numerous expert panels in the field of public health and has worked with many health agencies (Haute Autorité de Santé, ANSES, Santé Publique France, Institut National du Cancer, etc.). During the COVID-19 pandemic, he advised the President of the Republic and the government as a member of the COVID-19 Scientific Council (2020–2022).

Daniel Benamouzig’s work focuses on public health policies and the organization of health care. He is particularly interested in the role of institutions, health care actors, and ideas especially economic reasoning. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles and several books, including La santé au miroir de l’Economie (PUF, 2005), Économie et sociologie (with François Cusin, PUF, 2005) and, more recently, co-authored with Joan Cortinas-Muños, Lobbies on the Menu: The Agri-Food Industry Against Public Health (Raisons d’agir, 2022) and Lobbies at the Bar: The Alcohol Industry Against Health (Raisons d’agir, 2025).
