Sciences Po is launching the Paris Climate School in September 2026, the first European school dedicated to ecological transition, which will award a degree in humanities and social sciences focused on ecological transition.
A center of interdisciplinary excellence combining training, research, and expertise, the Paris Climate School aims to train the next generation of public and private decision-makers capable of leading the environmental transformationof our societies.
Laurence Tubiana, CEO of the European Climate Foundation and architect of the Paris Agreement, has been appointed Dean of the school, and Sophie Dubuisson-Quellier, CNRS Research Director at Sciences Po's Center for the Sociology of Organizations and member of the High Council for Climate, has been appointed Director of the Scientific Committee.
This committee is composed of members of the permanent faculty and teachers who work at the school. It is responsible for bringing the school's intellectual and educational project and its interdisciplinary objectives to life, as well as harmonizing approaches and sharing best practices resulting from the educational innovations implemented.
Sophie Dubuisson-Quellier, Head of Sciences Po Centre for the Sociology of Organisations and Research Director at the CNRS, who sits on the French High Council on Climate.
“I am delighted to have contributed to the creation of a climate school at Sciences Po. There is an urgent need to train a new generation of professionals capable of placing ecological issues (climate, biodiversity, resources) at the heart of their decision-making. With a solid background in social sciences and the ability to draw on knowledge from the life and geophysical sciences, our graduates will be equipped to bring about the changes needed to enable our societies to cope with ecological crises. The Master's in Ecological Transition, Risks and Governance will focus more specifically on the challenges of financing the transition, adaptation and risks, and organizational transformations based on practical cases. In addition, the Paris Climate School will offer modules for executive education. In both initial and continuing education, social science research will play a central role within the school.”
