The Centre de Sociologie des Organisations (CSO) at Sciences Po is seeking to recruit a Full Professor (CNU Section 19) specializing in the field of "Digital, Organizations, and Work." This recruitment is conducted under the provisions of Article 46 1° of Decree No. 84-431 of June 6, 1984.

GENERAL PROFILE
The position of Full Professor in Sociology, with a specialization in digital technology, organisations and work, is situated within a context of major transformations in professional practices, organizational structures and social relations brought about by digitization. In the era of artificial intelligence, digital platforms and datafication, this position aims to shed light on the dynamics shaping work, new forms of coordination and control, and issues of power, inequality and knowledge production. The successful candidate will demonstrate a keen interest in research on digital technologies and their social implications, in connection with one or more of the CSO's areas of expertise: sociology of work and professions, organizations, mobilization, law, public action, expertise and economy.
REQUIREMENTS
Research
The new recruit will conduct in-depth empirical research based on the production of original data. Research may focus on the following areas:
- Transformation of Work and Organizations: Analysis of the impact of digital technologies on skills, professional identities and working conditions; analysis of the reconfiguration of work collectives, hierarchies and power relations.
- Power and Inequality: Exploration of forms of control and asymmetries related to access to technology, digital skills, and issues of gender, class or race relations in digitized organizations.
- Knowledge Production around Digital Technologies: Study of the processes of design, dissemination and appropriation of digital technologies; socio-technical controversies and mobilizations; public policies, and higher education and research.
- Economic Dimensions of Digital Technologies: Evolution of markets, economic models and production relations induced by digitization; dynamics of financialization and commodification of labour; economic issues related to data.
Research may address various topics studied at the CSO: health, environment, higher education and research, markets, consumption, culture, businesses, agriculture, etc.
Active participation in the collective life of the laboratory is expected, including doctoral supervision, seminar participation, collective responsibilities, and lab activities.
Teaching
The annual teaching load is 128 hours of lectures, typically divided into three courses of 24 hours each and 56 hours of pedagogical services (e.g., participation in student admission procedures, supervision of master’s theses and doctoral dissertations, administrative tasks, etc.).
Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate courses at Sciences Po (University College) on one of the seven regional campuses, as well as graduate courses in one or more of Sciences Po’s schools. The recruit will be affiliated with the Sociology Department, and their teaching load will be defined in agreement with the department head.
Candidates must be able to teach general sociology, in addition to courses in their area of specialisation.
The ability to teach in both English and French will be highly valued.
Profile
The position is open to established sociologists from diverse theoretical and methodological backgrounds. The successful candidate will conduct in-depth empirical research based on original data, using qualitative, quantitative, digital, or mixed methods. Their research should also demonstrate their ability to engage with broader sociological debates on capitalism, the state, markets, collective action, public policies, science and technology, or law.
Candidates must demonstrate the internationalization of their research activities through publications and involvement in international scientific networks.
Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is a plus.

The list of mandatory documents to be provided, depending on the candidate's situation, is defined by the French regulations in force.
The application file must contain the following complete and legible documents:
- Identity document (front and back) with photograph;
- Diploma (PhD, HDR, or equivalent);
- Thesis defense report for the degree obtained or the certificate indicating the absence of a thesis defense report;
- Decree of appointment as a lecturer or assistant professor or equivalent teacher-researcher or possession of a valid qualification for university professor established by the CNU;
- A short cover letter, which should outline the research projects the candidate intends to pursue at the CSO;
- Analytical presentation (CV) of work, articles, achievements, and activities related to the profile of the position sought, specifying those you intend to present at the interview (3 significant publications);
- A selection of 3 significant publications with a copy of each of the monographs, scientific articles, exhibition catalogues etc. selected;
In the case of an application as a teacher-researcher occupying an equivalent position to that of the position to be filled, in a country other than France: a recent certificate issued by the current employer stating the position of the candidate, the duration and level of the functions performed.
The Selection Committee will shortlist candidates who will be invited to present their research at a seminar at Sciences Po in front of the academic community, and to attend an interview on June 9th, 2026.
Research at Sciences Po
Sciences Po is an institution of higher education and research in the social sciences divided in 5 departments (sociology, political science, history, economics, and law). Its permanent scientific community is structured in 12 entities recognized at the international level, amongst which 6 joint research units with the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and 3 research centres.
The research unit
The Centre de Sociologie des Organisations (CSO) is a joint research unit of Sciences Po and the CNRS, founded by Michel Crozier in 1964. The CSO’s work lies at the intersection of the sociology of organizations, economic sociology, and the sociology of public action, aiming to rethink the transformations of the state, markets, and organizations together.
Today, the CSO has 80 members, including 29 researchers and professors from various disciplines in the social sciences.
Its research is structured along five axes:
