Biography
A university professor, sociologist of the industrial and artistic worlds, and historian of the social sciences, Gwenaële Rot focuses her work on the analysis of work in practice across various sectors (automotive, nuclear and petrochemical industries, underground public transportation, audiovisual) and different regions (Ile-de-France, the South and Occitanie regions, Morocco). She is particularly interested in the
links between technology and work, work temporalities and spaces, and work and globalization.
In recent years, she has been developing a major research program dedicated to the sociology of artistic labor and art history:
- In the sociology of art, she studies changes in work within the
film and audiovisual industry, particularly the impact of
digital technologies (virtual reality, artificial intelligence) on the
transformation of professions and the methods of producing images and sound (feature films or television series).
- Together with François Vatin, she has undertaken a long-term
socio-historical research project on the links between art and industry, art and politics, and art in the city. Her
research also takes the form of action research aimed at raising awareness among public and private stakeholders regarding the challenges of preserving the industrial and artistic heritage of the 20th century.
