Biography

Julien Brugger holds a Master's degree in Social Sciences from the University of Amsterdam (mixed methods program) and is currently pursuing a PhD thesis on the social construction of commercial uses of AI under the joint supervision of Kevin Mellet (Sciences Po, CSO) and Hugo Jeanningros (University of Technology of Troyes). Combining qualitative and computational methods, Julien studies the dynamics of AI adoption by small businesses and the role played by market intermediaries (consultants/influencers) in defining and prescribing these uses. At the intersection of economic sociology and science and technology studies (STS), he is interested in the transformation of economic practices in the digital age.
