Biographie

Les recherches de Zachary Van Winkle portent sur les facteurs individuels et institutionnels qui façonnent les parcours de vie et les transitions au cours de la vie, ainsi que sur les conséquences que ces parcours ont pour les individus, dans une perspective comparative.

Il a soutenu sa thèse de doctorat sur la complexité des parcours familiaux en Europe et aux États-Unis au XXe siècle en octobre 2018. Cette thèse a reçu le prix de la meilleure thèse de doctorat décerné par le Consortium européen pour la recherche sociologique et la Société allemande de démographie.

À partir de septembre 2015, il a été chercheur pré-doctoral au département de microsociologie de l’Université Humboldt et a fait partie du groupe de recherche sur la démographie et les inégalités au Centre de sciences sociales WZB de Berlin. Il a effectué des séjours de recherche à l’Université de Stockholm, à l’Université de Princeton et à l’Université d’Amsterdam.

Jusqu’en 2020, il a été chercheur postdoctoral en sociologie et démographie sociale au département de sociologie et au Nuffield College de l’Université d’Oxford.
