Biographie
Bastian Betthäuser est professeur assistant au Centre de recherche sur les inégalités sociales (CRIS), Sciences Po, Paris. Ses recherches portent sur les inégalités sociales, sur la manière dont les (dés)avantages sociaux s''accumulent au cours de la vie des individus et sur la manière dont ils sont transmis d''une génération à l''autre. Plus précisément, il étudie (1) la manière dont le milieu socio-économique des personnes détermine leur développement pendant la petite enfance, leur éducation, leur position sur le marché du travail et leurs chances dans la vie en général ; (2) les processus qui médiatisent les effets du milieu social des personnes sur leur vie ; et (3) si et comment les politiques peuvent limiter la mesure dans laquelle les chances dans la vie des personnes dépendent de leur milieu socio-économique.
