RC28 Online Meeting on Educational Inequalities

Call for Papers
The Research Committee 28 on Social Stratification and Mobility (RC28) of the International Sociological Association (ISA) invites all scholars working in the field of educational inequalities to contribute to RC28’s first online thematic meeting. This online meeting will be free of charge and we welcome and encourage submissions from all world regions.
The meeting will take place on 20-21 January 2026 and will be hosted virtually by the Centre for Research on social InequalitieS (CRIS), a Sciences Po/CNRS unit, in Paris.
This thematic meeting will focus broadly on educational inequalities. We welcome theory-driven, quantitative submissions related to this theme.
The online meeting will follow the usual format of RC28 meetings with parallel sessions, poster presentations and plenaries by Marissa Thompson and Thijs Bol. Conference timings will be adapted to suit a broad range of participation across different continents.
Participation is free of charge, but participants must be RC28 members. Please see https://sites.google.com/site/rc28hp/join-us regarding membership with RC28.
Note that there can only be one submission per person and that participants can present only one paper. However, you can be a co-author on other paper submissions or presentations.
Please prepare a short abstract (max. 14000 characters / about 200 words) and an extended abstract (2-4 pages, max 1000 words) including a clear description of the research question, the theoretical framework, the data and methods as well as the main findings. The abstract must be sufficiently detailed to allow the scientific committee to judge the merits of the paper. Please note that full paper submissions can complement but not replace extended abstract submissions. Please also include up to 5 keywords and choose the preferred format (oral/poster) for your contribution during the submission process (each poster will have a separate online room).
Abstracts must be submitted by 15th October 2025, using this link (please note that you will need a Google account to submit): https://forms.gle/LbsJav3RBoXz2ZvG8.
All submissions are subject to peer review by a scientific committee. Authors will be informed about the committee’s decision by the end of November 2025.
For any questions, please email rc28online.2026@sciencespo.fr and stay tuned on this webpage for regular updates and practical information about the conference.
This call is also available in a pdf file.
