Fabrizio Barca, MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge (1979), worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and at Stanford University, as well as in many European universities teaching corporate finance as well as economy history. He has been also a senior civil servant and politician, who has worked for the Banca d’Italia and for the Italian treasure minister. He has also served as president of OECD’s territorial policies committee, and worked as special advisor to the European Union commissioner responsible for Regional Policy.  He has been appointed Minister of Territorial Cohesion to the cabinet led by Mario Monti (2011-2013).
On the Partito democratico he has written in 2014 La traversata: Una nuova idea di partito e di governo (Feltrinelli) and his paper in which he described the party he desired ‘‘Un partito nuovo per un buon governo’’. He has also directed a participatory research report on the PD in Rome.
