Climate: What Dynamics in Discourse, Policy and Public Opinion?
CDSP Data for the Paris Climate & Nature Week
On the occasion of the Paris Climate & Nature Week, the teams at the Centre for Socio-Political Data (CDSP) at Sciences Po are publishing an infographic summarizing how attention to climate change has evolved in public discourse, political platforms, and public opinion.
Based on surveys available in the CDSP’s data repository, this visual highlights the rise of climate change as a key political and social issue since the mid-2000s: its appearance in party manifestos, growing concern in public opinion, as well as clear divides by age, education level, or political orientation.
It also illustrates which transition measures are most widely supported (e.g., subsidies for public transport, curbing urban sprawl) and which tend to face stronger opposition (e.g., urban tolls, carbon taxes, car restrictions).
