Fabrizio Saccomanni is currently Vice President of the International Affairs Institute (Rome), Senior Fellow of the School of European Political Economy (LUISS University, Rome) and Director General Emeritus of the Bank of Italy.

He was Minister of Economy and Finance in the Italian Government (from April 2013 to February 2014). Previously, he held the positions of Senior Deputy Governor (Director General) of the Bank of Italy (2006-13); Member of the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements (2016-13); Alternate member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (2006-13); Vice President for Risk Management of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (2003-06). He is the author of a book on "Managing International Financial Instability" (Elgar, UK, 2008).
