The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) is a Swiss-based private diplomacy organization founded on the principles of humanity, impartiality and independence. Their mission is to help prevent, mitigate, and resolve armed conflict through dialogue and mediation.

Katia Papagianni joined HD in 2006 and is the organisation’s Director for Policy and Mediation Support. Her work focuses on the design of peace processes and, more specifically, on national dialogues and constitution-making processes. As part of her work at HD, she has supported various peace processes, including in Liberia, Libya, Syria, Myanmar, Ukraine and the Philippines. Katia was also seconded to the United Nations to support national dialogue efforts in Yemen where she shared comparative insights on the design of national dialogue processes. Katia holds a Bachelor’s degree from Brown University, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Princeton University, and a Doctorate in Political Science from Columbia University. She has taught on the subjects of peacebuilding and state-building at both Geneva’s Graduate Institute for International and Development Studies’ and at Columbia University.
