Abstract:

In our European societies, gender inequalities persist in a great many areas (employment, poverty, division of time, participation in decision-making, etc.). From the mid-1990s onwards, the European institutions have subscribed to the "gender mainstreaming" approach, which is binding on all stakeholders, covers all phases of the "policy cycle" and therefore applies to the evaluation phase. A great deal of work has been done in the evaluation world, but gender sensitive evaluations are still rare and often confined to the restricted field of gender equality policies. With this presentation, we’d like to highlight available tools to facilitate the integration of a gender perspective in any evaluation but also to share our own experiences and lessons learned.
