Over the last two decades, stated-preference methods have become central tools for understanding how individuals value public policies and non-market goods. Among these approaches, Discrete Choice Experiments (DCEs) have been widely used to estimate preferences and support priority-setting in health. More recently, constrained portfolio choice experiments have emerged as powerful methods to involve citizens directly in policy design by eliciting preferences under realistic budgetary or regulatory constraints.

This workshop brings together leading scholars and practitioners to provide an accessible overview of these tools, discuss methodological developments, and explore their potential for ex-ante policy evaluation. It aims to foster dialogue between researchers, policymakers, and practitioners interested in evidence-based decision-making and participatory approaches to public policy.
