In spring 2020 the covid-19 pandemic hit Europe. Initially Germany did very well thanks to its epidemiological crisis management, in comparison with several of its European neighbors, France included. But, during the so-called second wave of the pandemic, while the situation was getting better in France, the number of COVID-19 cases (infections and deaths) was increasing in Germany so much, so that by the third wave, both countries faced similar epidemiological challenges.
15 months after COVID-19 patient 0 in France and Germany, respectively on 25th and 28th January 2020, we are still facing and challenging the pandemic. What went wrong? What are the current challenges? What about the „COVID-0-Strategy“ or how can we do better?
German and french epidemiologists and the Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Evaluation of Public Policies (LIEPP), on behalf of the Alfred Grosser-Program of Science Po, will present and try to answer these questions from an epidemiological perspective, so that the EU and its Member States can learn for the future.
