Biographie
Serge Galam est physicien, théoricien, spécialiste des systèmes désordonnés, fondateur de la sociophysique, directeur de recherche au CNRS.
Après dix années passées au CREA - Centre de Recherche en Epistémologie Appliquée de l’École Polytechnique, fin 2013 il rejoint le CEVIPOF devenant le premier physicien à Sciences Po.
La sociophysique, nouvelle discipline en pleine expansion au niveau international, reste aujourd’hui en grande partie confinée aux physiciens. Le défi de l’implanter à Sciences Po est donc à la fois scientifique, méthodologique, épistémologique et culturel. S’agissant de découvrir si les comportements sociaux et politiques obéissent à des lois quantifiables et découvrables, l’enjeu est conséquent : les sciences sociales peuvent-elles, du moins en partie, devenir des sciences dures, c’est-à-dire réfutables et capables de prédictions mesurables ? Pour ce faire le CEVIPOF, tant par ses sujets de recherches sur la politique, les votes, l’étude des mouvements d’opinion, que par sa richesse disciplinaire, est particulièrement approprié à ce défi. C’est le début d’une nouvelle aventure humaine et scientifique.
