Binxin Zhang a obtenu son doctorat en science politique à Sciences Po Paris en 2024. Sa thèse, intitulée « Rencontrer l’Autre et (Re)définir le Soi : les Africains en Chine et les imaginaires chinois de la race, de la nation et de l’ordre mondial », examine la construction des représentations chinoises d’eux-mêmes à travers les perceptions, discours et interactions avec les Africains en Chine.

Auparavant, Binxin Zhang a été Assistant Professor en droit international public à la faculté de droit de l’Université de Xiamen, et Legal Officer au sein de la délégation régionale pour l’Asie de l’Est du Comité international de la Croix-Rouge. Elle a également été chercheuse invitée à l’Université nationale de Taïwan, à l’Université nationale australienne, et à l’École de droit de Sciences Po Paris.

Binxin Zhang a contribué à des groupes d’experts internationaux tels que le Woomera Manual on the International Law of Military Space Operations et le International Panel on the Regulation of Autonomous Weapons. Elle est également titulaire d’un doctorat en droit international de l’Université Renmin de Chine.
