This event is organized under the auspices of the European Horizon funded consortia Dealing with a resurgent China (DWARC). The event is divided into two roundtables that feature internationally leading China experts from several European universities and think tanks. The two roundtables are called: “Taking stock of China’s direction after the National People’s Congress 2025” &  “China’s foreign policy amid new geopolitical reality of Donald Trump.”

PROGRAM

17:00: Welcome by chair: Prof. Jean-Louis Rocca  – Sciences Po–CERI (member of DWARC)
Keynote by Arancha González, Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA) at Sciences Po and former Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation

Based on the conclusions from the NPC, the roundtable will discuss how Beijing is dealing with the country’s struggling economy and what economic reforms – if any – are to be expected in the coming year.

The roundtable will discuss how China is responding to ‘Round Two’ of Trump’s trade war and the initiatives that China is launching in response to the potential peace negotiations of Russia’s war against Ukraine and the US’ changing priorities on the international stage.
