Marion Bruley Event

The Foundation and the French Consulate hosted a cocktail in support of the Marion Bruley Grant, where guests were able to meet and learn about Eléonore Thénot, the 2013 Marion Bruley laureate, who is currently interning in the Press Department of the consulate. Consul General of France, Bertrand Lortholary, was present, as well as several other distinguished guests. In his opening remarks, H.E. Lortholary briefly recounted Marion’s life and the establishment of the grant. He then spoke of Eléonore’s work at the Consulate and commended the Gauvey-Herbert family on their generous initiative. Eléonore, the 2013 laureate of the Marion Bruley Grant, also gave a speech, recounting her experiences:

“After only a few days, I already had the opportunity to shake hands with our Minister of Foreign Affairs, stand in front of Ban Ki-Moon in this room, and prepare press reviews for a former candidate for presidency. […] Next year at home, my everyday routine will seem pretty dull after what I’ve experienced here.”

At the end of 2013, the Foundation had raised over $100,000 toward the Grant. To keep the endowment self-sustaining, we need to reach $150,000, and it is only through donations like yours that we can do so! If you would like to donate, please visit Marion Bruley Grant.
